The Nature Foundation of Sint Maarten is organizing this Saturday, October 8, 2022 a free trip to discover birds, heading to the Parotte Ville bird sanctuary. This is the latest edition and it is aimed at children and adolescents between 10 and 17 years old.
The opportunity is too good not to seize it, there are still a few places available to live this unique experience: discover the different species of birds of Saint-Martin by visiting the Parotte Ville sanctuary in Philipsburg. During the previous edition, 18 students and two members of the Nature Foundation of Sint Maarten had the opportunity to go to Parotte Ville thanks to funding from the School of Medicine of the American University of the Caribbean. Parotte Ville is a bird-friendly bird park that allows visitors to get a closer look at the beautiful parrots and other local bird species by feeding and holding them, with pure interaction. Some students even pushed the experiment by giving the birds a little hug! After this beautiful encounter, the free trip continued to the local heritage museum, where the group enriched their knowledge of the trees, plants and animals of the island. And to end the morning, the children took advantage of the park's playground while enjoying a healthy snack provided by the Nature Foundation association before getting back on the bus. It is exactly this program that awaits future young participants this Saturday, October 8, and still free of charge because this latest edition is still funded by the School of Medicine of the American University of the Caribbean. The departure is fixed at 9:30 am at Simpson Bay and the return will be at 12:30 pm. Contact the association for any registration or question (see info). The Nature Foundation of Sint Maarten takes part in the education of new generations with the goal of preserving and enhancing the natural environment of St. Maarten in the present moment through a variety of education, preservation and research initiatives.
