ML a father of 3 was sentenced by the criminal court to a 4-month suspended prison sentence for stealing bags from a car parked on the Marigot seafront in June 2013.
Last Thursday, ML was heard by the court for theft with damaged vehicle in which his fingerprints were found in the trunk. Last June, accompanied by an interpreter, he declared to the gendarmerie that he had participated in several such thefts in the city center. But in court, he has a completely different version. Guilty of the facts, the court sentenced him to 4 months suspended prison sentence and to pay 2000 euros in fines for pecuniary damage and 500 euros in non-pecuniary damage to the owner of the car who had brought a civil action. _KL
