A while ago, the Sint Maarten yacht club announced the first edition of the Caribbean Multihull Challenge. Yesterday, he revealed the name of his main sponsor and partner.
The vocation of the Sint Maarten Yacht Club has always been to promote sailing sports on the island by regularly organizing events and offering courses. With this in mind, the SMYC announced some time ago the creation of a new regatta bringing together all types of multihulls, the Caribbean Multihull Challenge which will take place from February 8 to 10, 2019. Three days of racing but also three days party between beach party, games and other festive attractions. Yesterday, August 1st, the SMYC announced in a press release that Mount Gay Rum became the official partner of this new regatta. For those who do not yet know, Mount Gay is considered the oldest house in the world of rum. Indeed, the oldest deed of ownership of the distillery, located in Barbados, dates back to 1703 making the brand the oldest brand of rum. The high-end brand is distributed by ILTT in Saint-Martin. This partnership is not so surprising when we know that ILTT also distributes Heineken, which is already the organizer of a regatta whose notoriety goes far beyond our borders.
