SAILING / 5th Caribbean Multihull Challenge Race and Rally: three intense and spectacular days of racing!

Just one month before the 43rd edition of the Sint Maarten Heineken Regatta (March 2 to 5, 2023) the fifth edition of the Caribbean Multihull Challenge Race and Rally took place last weekend.

Racing classes and the rally fleet converged along the southwest coasts of Sint Maarten on Sunday to wrap up a remarkable three days of sailing. Together, under colorful, billowing spinnakers and with spray in easterly trade wind gusts of over 20 knots, the racing and cruising catamarans and trimarans reached the finish line in near-perfect sailing conditions. .

Pierre Altier's Diam 24, Cry Baby, won the Diam 24 category and was named the most worthy performer of the fifth edition of the Caribbean Multihull Challenge Race and Rally on Sunday.

Greg Slyngstad's Fujin won the CMC Trifecta which included Sunday's 27-mile round-the-island race, Saturday's Caribbean 60-mile multihull sprint around St. Barthelemy and Friday's round of Saba Dash.

Tryst by Arthur Banting won the CSA 2 and La Novia by Georges Coutu the CSA 3.

In the rally fleet, Ron Boehm's Antrim 52, Little Wing, designed by Bob Perry, took the prize for the estimated time challenge and the bingo card challenge, followed closely by the colorful trimaran Neel 45 by Darren Seltzer, Panda Rosso.

The Sint Maarten Yacht Club will host the sixth edition of the Caribbean Multihull Challenge Race and Rally from February 2-4, 2024. _AF
