The officials met this Wednesday morning to inaugurate the brand new branch of the Post Office in Quartier d'Orléans. This marks the great return of public services to the district.

Open since December 29, the post office located in apartment 602 of the Les Hirondelles residence was eagerly awaited by the population of Quartier d'Orléans. From now on, people from this district classified as a priority by the City's Policy will no longer have to go to Marigot to benefit from the services of the Post Office. Many officials were present to mark the event: Anne Berthy-Boudon, regional director of La Poste, Louis Mussington, president of the Collectivité, Dominique Démocrite Louisy, 3rd vice-president, Alain Richardson, 1st vice-president President and CEO of Semsamar, which provides four premises for local services in Quartier d'Orléans, and finally, Vincent Berton, Delegate Prefect of the Northern Islands. Several representatives of associations and organizations were invited to participate in the inauguration, including AIDES, Cobraced, Tournesol, Sandy Ground on the Move, the Compagnons Bâtisseurs, the Mioches Carmont, the CAF, Pôle Emploi, the Caisse Générale de Sécurité Social, Pôle Emploi, the vice-rectorate, Initiative Saint-Martin Active, the territorial police and the gendarmerie. So many structures that collaborate with the local services available in Quartier d'Orléans. During the speeches, Anne Berthy-Boudon congratulated all the actors for this concrete response to the demands of the inhabitants of the district. The territorial post office moved into one of the 72 premises impacted by Hurricane Irma. Bringing the premises into conformity was financed by the Collectivity and Semmama, lessor of the building, for a total amount of €63.648. In addition to contributing to the payment of the rent for said premises up to €5.558 per year, the Collectivity provides and remunerates two territorial agents who welcome and support the inhabitants in their procedures at the post office, with a desire to bring a new dynamic in Quartier d'Orleans. The initiative was warmly welcomed by Louis Mussington and Vincent Berton during their speeches. The latter declared: “opening a post office in Quartier d'Orléans is not a favor granted to its inhabitants but a right they have, a right to local public services”. The services offered in this new post office are multiple: sending and receiving of registered mail and parcels, withdrawal and deposit of money of a maximum of €500 per week, sale of mail-parcel products and services, as well as financial advice by a expert on a weekly basis. The inauguration was marked by the cutting of the ribbon by the officials as well as a visit to the premises. _VX
