Summer holidays: in which countries can we go?

Since Wednesday, July 1, the borders of the European Union have reopened to certain countries outside Europe. Who can come to Europe? Where can the French go on vacation this summer? What are the sanitary conditions?

The European Union reopened its borders to 15 non-European countries this Wednesday, July 1. Sanitary conditions are however imposed in certain countries.

The 27 EU member states have opened their doors to countries where the coronavirus seems to be under control today. The list below will be revised every 15 days depending on the evolution of the pandemic in the country.

- Canada

- New Zealand

- Australia

- Tunisia

- Algeria

- Morocco

- Japan

- South Korea

- Thailand

- Uruguay

- Serbia

- Montenegro

- Georgia

- China (provided that European tourists are allowed to go to China as well, which is not currently the case)

- Rwanda.

However, the health measures are specific to each country.

Go to metropolitan France

There are no distance restrictions on travel in mainland France and no health conditions for

trips to friends, family, a second home, a gîte or a rental.

On the other hand, if the holidays are spent in collective accommodation such as hotels, holiday villages, campsites, collective inns, etc. it is preferable to contact the person in charge of the establishment who will specify the standards applied.

In Europe

European countries open to French without restriction:

France, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Poland, Belarus, Sweden, Italy, Hungary, Austria, Serbia, North Macedonia, Albania, Bulgaria, Romania, Andorra.

European countries open to French people under certain conditions:

Portugal, Ireland, Iceland, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Greece, Ukraine, Slovakia, Finland, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Croatia, Denmark, Malta (except for Ile-de-France residents until July 15 )

European countries closed to French:

Norway, Montenegro, Bosnia

Traveling outside Europe

Since July 1st, French people can travel to the following countries under certain health conditions.

Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Uruguay, Serbia, Montenegro, Georgia, China (to provided that European tourists are also allowed to go to China (which is currently not the case) and Rwanda.

However, it is impossible to travel:

in the United States, Brazil, Israel, India or Russia.

In Tunisia, the trip is subject to isolation for 6 days and a compulsory test of less than 72 hours.

Morocco and Algeria are still banned from the French
