Domestic violence : a man sentenced to two months suspended prison sentence
Several cases of domestic violence were nevertheless judged yesterday. Among these, a security guard, EM, admitted to the judge that he had behaved violently towards his wife. The facts date back to July 19, 2022. While he was taking a shower, his wife took his personal and professional phones before leaving the marital home. Her husband finally found his wife a few minutes later in his vehicle and an altercation took place between the couple.
The husband more than annoyed struck several punches on the forehead of his wife who found herself on the ground on the road.
"Hitting your wife can lead you directly to prison," said the judge, Françoise Mariaux.
The deputy prosecutor, Yann Burnichon is asking for a 6-month suspended prison sentence.
After deliberation, EM was found guilty of the charges against him. The court sentenced him to 2 months in prison with a simple reprieve for a period of five years as well as a course in the prevention of domestic violence to be carried out within the next six months (from the date of the judgment ). EM was also notified by the judge that he will no longer be able to receive the survivor's pension (note: the survivor's pension is no longer distributed to perpetrators of domestic violence in accordance with the law of December 30, 2019).
