Earthquake south of St-Martin

An earthquake with a magnitude of 4,6 occurred this Friday, 13/11 at 16:35 p.m. local time and was strongly felt by the population of Saint-Martin, Saint-Barthélémy and Anguilla.

The epicenter was located at 17.92N and -63.36W, or between Saint-Martin Saba, at a depth of 104 km.
The various testimonies collected on the site www.emsc-csem.org:
- a quite strongly felt shock
- jerks and rumbling for several seconds
- two shakes spaced 3 seconds apart. Business jumped, rumbling coming from afar and continuous between shocks.
- loud rumbling then the house shook
- rumbling and 2 strong tremors

The tremors are frequent in the Caribbean which is a zone at the risk. As a reminder, in January of this year an earthquake of 7.7 hit Cuba.
