Works in Marigot: The traders compensated in the 1st quarter of 2017?

1

Aware of the impact of this work on commercial activity in Marigot, Vice-President Wendel Cocks was in favor of the creation of an amicable compensation commission for the commercial damage caused by the work.

Work meetings have already been scheduled (this month) to prepare the legal framework for this commission and move quickly on the compensation procedure. Present around the table, the president of the CCISM, Mr. Jean Arnell, indicated that the CCISM would soon open a permanent office aimed at supporting companies in preparing their injury files.

Composed of local elected representatives, CCI representatives, representatives of merchant associations, a representative of the order of Chartered Accountants and technical departments, the commission will be responsible for examining the claims for compensation submitted by merchants, to issue a reasoned opinion and make a proposal for compensation for each request. The final decision will be made by deliberation of the executive council.

According to the schedule defined between the parties, the commission would meet in December, and compensation would occur during the first quarter of 2017.

It is the first time that a commission of this type will be created in Saint-Martin; it will rule on current and future work carried out on the territory, as exists elsewhere in France when major work is undertaken.

In addition, the president will inform the social and fiscal organizations by mail of the system put in place, so that they are attentive to requests for support (moratoriums, etc.) that these companies may request. _AF
