The Sonesta group has two establishments in Maho, partly Dutch, the Maho Beach Resort, Casino & Spa and the Sonesta Ocean Point Resort. Both complexes were damaged by Irma, the Beach Resort having been very badly damaged.
The Maho Beach Resort will welcome its customers again on February 1, 2019. The Sky Tower, of which only the metal frame remains, will be completely rebuilt. "It will be able to withstand blowing winds up to 320 km / h and strong earthquakes," said the management, which called on TCK and LVKE, a consortium of companies based in China.
