The Collectivity of Saint-Martin will start, in October 2019, the earthworks of an information kiosk which will be made available to the Tourist Office, to welcome, inform and advise visitors.
This achievement consists of constructing a single-storey building housing a private space and two reception desks located on either side of the building. Tourists will thus be able to access the services of the Tourist Office, in a high-traffic area, located near the ferry terminal, at n ° 5 - Boulevard du Docteur Petit.
Since the beginning of the year, the Saint-Martin Tourist Office has found a central place in the heart of Marigot. Its administrative offices are located on rue du Général de Gaulle, in an accessible and shopping area, and this small information kiosk will complement the welcome system for our tourists.
President Daniel Gibbs and his first vice-president, Valérie Damaseau, who chairs the Tourist Board's Management Committee, wanted to refocus the structure in the heart of the capital to give it enough visibility and allow it to develop its missions promotion and animation of the destination.
This information point will welcome visitors, guide them and inform them about existing activities and excursions and services to the public. Partnership work will be established with the association of professional taxis and its other partners (hoteliers - restaurateurs - traders - sports and leisure facilities), in order to be able to disseminate comprehensive information to visitors and highlight the many activities present in the territory.
For Valérie Damaseau, President of the Office, "it was essential to reorganize the structure and enhance its primary missions". Thus, the administrative office is working on the application of the 2017-2027 Tourism strategy, voted by the Collectivity in November 2017, by declining marketing operations aimed at promoting the destination internationally, while the Kiosk team of information will focus on welcoming and orienting visitors.
“The Tourist Office also complements the actions initiated by the Collectivity in the field of the animation of the territory, by proposing or supporting, alongside the Collectivity, festive and tourist events, such as the Carnival, the SXM Festival and new projects that will soon see the light of day, ”added the president.
Very attached to the animation and the promotion of the territory, the first vice-president Valérie Damaseau wishes that this new information point built and made available by the Collectivity, could benefit from the influence of Saint-Martin.
The construction will be carried out in two stages: first the earthworks which will begin in October, then the construction of the building. The kiosk is scheduled to open to the public in the first quarter of 2020.
Work in the city center may cause nuisance, the Collectivity will do everything to carry out this work as soon as possible, with the least possible inconvenience.
