The Tourist Office participated from January 9th to 13th, at the Salon Vakantiebeurs, in the Netherlands, alongside the Dutch Tourist Office.

This gathering is a large tourism and leisure fair, aimed primarily at the general public, who come to find information on upcoming holidays. The show is also intended for tourism professionals, many travel agencies and tour operators are represented. Each year, the show attracts around 120 visitors who flock to the aisles to discover 000 exhibitors.

The Saint-Martin delegation consisted of the President of the Tourist Office, Valérie Damaseau, her Dutch counterpart, Minister Stuart Johnson, the director of the Dutch Tourist Office May Ling Chun, the Director, Aïda Weinum, Olivier Louis, Head of the Paris office, European Market Manager, Gia Arrindel and Ichel Moeslikan from the port of Sint-Maarten.

Participating in this event is a way for the French Tourist Office to communicate with its Dutch counterparts, as part of their memorandum of understanding. Introduce the French side to the Dutch, so that they consider the island, as one and the same territory, with complementary charms.

An official presentation of Saint-Martin, of the “meet and greet” type, was made to the ambassadors of Curaçao, Panama, the Philippines, Canada, the United States and France. The purpose of this action was to invite them to come and discover or rediscover Saint-Martin very soon in order to strengthen cooperation.

The union of French and Dutch tourism players is a real opportunity for the island of Saint-Martin, it demonstrates each time, a greater influence internationally. Aware of this strength, the two Tourist Offices will continue, in 2019, to jointly ensure the commercial promotion of the island. During the show, several meetings were notably taken with KLM, TUI, Thomas Cook and Air France.
