Yet another article was published on Friday by a national daily on post-Irma reconstruction and the speed with which it is carried out on the Dutch side compared to Saint-Martin. Is this really the case?
We have estimated at 12 the main hotel / time share establishments in the Dutch part, that is 738 rooms. To date, 801 rooms are available out of the 2 offered by the 738 main hotels, or 12% of the capacity.
By the end of the year, the number of rooms available will be 978 (35% of the capacity of the 12 largest hotels).
In the French part, the number of hotel establishments is more numerous because the structures are smaller. We have estimated 21.
Today, seven are open, which represents 209 rooms and 14,6% of the capacity of the establishments listed. By the end of the year, the number of rooms will be 510, or 35,8% of the capacity of the hotels listed.
Today, we can say that the reconstruction of hotels has been faster. But within two months, the number of rooms available compared to the total number offered, will be identical on both sides of the island (35%).
