Sport shooting: Speed ​​sport shooting competition in Anse Marcel, the return

Last Saturday, the Association Saint-Martinoise de Tir (ASMT) finally reopened its doors to competition after months of waiting due to the coronavirus pandemic. And they have not skimped on the means for this special Halloween edition!

Born in the United States in 1976, Speed ​​Sport Shooting (TSV) is an individual sport which consists of shooting with a firearm as quickly as possible while accumulating as many points as possible. Each match includes several courses called "stages" where the targets are multiple, whether metallic or paper, moving or fixed. Nine courses were organized for this competition which welcomed 33 participants divided into three different and distinct spaces in shooting cells in groups of 8 to 10 people maximum in compliance with health measures. Several types of course were offered: small up to 12 strokes, medium up to 24 and large up to 32; with varying shooting distances. Even if the number of participants was halved because of the health crisis, the panel of shooters remained varied: 4 from the United States, 8 from Martinique, 4 from Saint Barth, 1 from mainland and the rest from Saint Martin. Panel which was divided into 5 divisions and judged by 2 national and 3 international referees in an extremely secure environment. Whether you are keen on firearms or not, this discipline which combines speed, power and precision also allows you to better manage your stress and control your emotions in view of the countless rules to follow. And the rules are strict, a single mistake leads to disqualification. There are also 4 disqualified during the competition last Saturday. We do not play around with guns! Another figure to emphasize, there were only 3 women in competition. Ladies, the call is made ... _VX
