Saint-Martin is in electro mode until Sunday: more than 70 international DJs will mix on both sides of the island as part of the SXMusic festival. Wednesday, the launch of the event took place at Palm Beach, Orient Bay, despite blockages on the national road at the BO and in Quartier d'Orléans.
The organizer of the SXMusic festival Julian Arbia invited the local press last Tuesday to the Mercure hotel, in Nettle Bay, to discuss this event dedicated to electronic music, in the presence of several artists and foreign media. Almost 1500 passes were sold to tourists, he said. “We have had an increase in hotel bookings for this period. In Marigot, we can see that the population is a little younger compared to what we usually see, ”says the director of the Tourist Office Kate Richardson. “This festival has indeed attracted a new clientele, who travel a lot, with good income. It is very important that the island understands the economic impact of such an event ”, mentions Julian Arbia, adding that the investment for such an event amounts to one million euros. “This year is a test year. Next year, we will get more involved, because we can see it: it moves people, adds Kate Richardson. Our goal is to distribute the dates for 2017 as quickly as possible to our partners and tour operators so that they can mount packages in Saint-Martin. ” The full program is available on the website: www.sxmusicfestival.com.
