The organizer of the SXMusic festival Julian Arbia invited the local press last Tuesday to the Mercure hotel, in Nettle Bay, to discuss this event dedicated to electronic music, in the presence of several artists and foreign media. Almost 1500 passes were sold to tourists, he said. “We have had an increase in hotel bookings for this period. In Marigot, we can see that the population is a little younger compared to what we usually see, ”says the director of the Tourist Office Kate Richardson. “This festival has indeed attracted a new clientele, who travel a lot, with good income. It is very important that the island understands the economic impact of such an event ”, mentions Julian Arbia, adding that the investment for such an event amounts to one million euros. “This year is a test year. Next year, we will get more involved, because we can see it: it moves people, adds Kate Richardson.
