In a press release dated May 18, Air Antilles informed its customers of the suspension of its flights between Guadeloupe and Martinique as of this day.
“The company had scheduled and marketed regular flights between the two departments in compliance with the prefectural decrees of May 13 and 15, 2020, except to consider that Martinique is not an integral part of the European Union. Systematic victim of refusal of flight authorization by the Prefecture of Guadeloupe, the company is today forced to interrupt its connections between the two islands until further notice. Air Antilles apologizes to its customers who have, or will be impacted by these persistent refusal decisions, totally beyond its control, ”according to the press release.
Air Antilles wonders about the criteria for granting these authorizations which according to it "only allow a single company to operate the service between the two departments".
