Sint Maarten police carried out control operations on Tuesday, September 10, at the Sonesta reconstruction site in Maho as part of an investigation into the hidden work.
Three public works companies are suspected of illegally employing Venezuelans on several sites, including that of Sonesta in Maho, said the prosecutor's office in Sint Maarten.
The latter recalls that hidden work is prohibited. Not only because it reduces the chances of St Maarteners to find a job but also to fight against the exploitation of workers.
