Solidarity: A flat-rate aid awarded for Saint-Martin students in difficulty

1

As part of the Territorial Solidarity Pact, the Collectivity of Saint-Martin has decided to provide substantial assistance to Saint-Martin students in difficulty. President Daniel Gibbs and his executive hope to be able to provide concrete assistance to students encountering real difficulties in the context of confinement.

The Collectivity thus decided to request the European Social Fund (ESF) for the setting up of a first device aiming to allocate a flat-rate aid to each of the 351 students who received a grant from the Collectivity for the academic year 2019- 2020. This flat-rate aid amounts to 500 euros per student.

A second scheme, supported by the European Social Fund, will make it possible to pay this aid to 41 students who for various reasons were unable to obtain a scholarship for the current academic year.

Finally, the Collectivity is considering a third system aimed at allocating aid to a dozen non-executive students, already identified by the services of the Maison de Saint-Martin in Paris.

Thus 402 students already listed by the services of the Collectivity will be able to benefit from an aid of 500 euros each for a total amount of 201.000 euros financed by the Collectivity of Saint-Martin with the financial support of the European Social Fund.

These devices will be proposed to the vote of the next executive council in order to move quickly and allow these young people in difficulty to quickly receive this territorial aid.
