On January 1, 2022, new regulations and new pricing came into effect. In addition to the increase in the minimum wage, several developments should be noted in the real estate sector. Overview of the main changes accompanying the transition to the new year. 

 

Change for aid and purchasing power

Revaluation of the minimum wage

To cope with the acceleration of inflation in 2021 (2,8% in one year) the minimum wage  will experience a revaluation of 0,9% on January 1, 2022, rising to 1603 euros gross for 35 hours worked each week. The net salary will be 1.269 euros, an increase of 38 euros for the employee. The hourly rate will be 10,57 euros.

Revaluation of retirement pensions

On January 1, retirement pensions will also be revalued by 1,1% to cope with inflation. According to the government service-public site, this revaluation will affect “all basic pensions except those for lawyers. It will apply to pensions for retirees in the private sector, the public service, special schemes and the self-employed. "

Housing tax relief

The housing tax will experience a final reduction in 2022 before its total abolition in 2023. The tax website specifies this new relief: "Households who have not yet benefited from the abolition of their housing tax can claim a 65% exemption from this tax on their main residence, regardless of their income. "

The increased income tax scale 

As of January 1, 2022, the income tax scale will be increased by 1,4% due to the increase in consumer prices. Spring 2022 tax returns will recognize income received in 2021.  

Extension of the compensatory disability allowance

The compensatory disability allowance is financial assistance intended to reimburse expenses related to a disability situation. This aid, paid by the departments, is subject to variable maximum payment periods, 3, 5 or 10 years. From 2022, the maximum allocation period is set at 10 years for “five forms of specific aid from the PCH”.

Increase in the price of stamps

As every year, the prices of stamps will increase on January 1, 2022. The stamps  for priority letter will go from 1,28 euros to 1,43 euros, stamps for green letters will increase by 8 cents to reach 1,16 euros, the same goes for eco-mail whose price will reach 1,14 euros.

Free contraception for women under 25

From January 1, 2022, contraception will be free for women under 25. Thus, "the Health Insurance will cover 100% and without advance of expenses, the cost of contraception and the acts which are related to it (one consultation per year with a doctor or a midwife and the potential biological examinations). . " However, not all contraception is affected by this free service. 3rd pills  and 4th generations, vaginal rings, condoms, spermicidal creams and patches are excluded.

 

New measures for environmental protection

New limitation of plastic use

The anti-waste law provides for a new restriction on the use of plastic. Some fruits and vegetables can no longer be sold with plastic packaging. Apples, cucumbers, lemons and grapefruit, radishes and round tomatoes are particularly concerned. If the fruits and vegetables are prepared or cut, the use of plastic is allowed.

Free drinking water in bars and restaurants

Establishments open to the public, such as bars and restaurants for example, must provide the public with a drinking water fountain.

Prohibition on the destruction of unsold non-food items

As of January 1, the destruction of unsold non-food items will be prohibited. Textiles, shoes, electrical and electronic products but also books, school supplies and hygiene products are affected by this destruction ban.

Introduction of a penalty for polluting cars

A new penalty for excessively polluting cars will come into force on January 1. It will concern cars from 128 grams of CO2 / km. A tax of 50 euros is indexed to the first tranche. There are three tax brackets.

Another penalty is applied to the weight. It will affect vehicles over 1,8 tonnes. The penalty is 10 euros per kilogram.

 

Changes administrative

Conditions for granting real estate loansrs

As of January 1, 2022, the conditions for granting real estate loans will change. A loan can no longer exceed 25 years, it will also be necessary that the debt ratio of the borrower does not exceed 35% against 33% previously. This new rate must now include the cost of borrower insurance.

An information sheet on the prices and services of the trustees

January 1, 2022, will mark the beginning of the obligation for the trustees to give the co-owners an information sheet detailing the prices and services offered. This standardized form must include the main elements allowing the identification of the contract.

A new 2 euro coin

On the occasion of the presidency of France and to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Euro, a new 2 euro coin  will be put into circulation. An olive tree and an oak will be engraved on the latter. 1 euro collectible coins minted with the same symbols will be put into circulation.
