This Friday, February 3, the Opale room of the CCISM hosted the first territorial meeting of adult relays organized by the State, the Collectivity and the partners of the event.

In collaboration with France Médiation, national education and Pôle Emploi, this first day dedicated to adult relays in the area was a success. A system piloted by the Department of the Economy, Employment, Labor and Solidarity (DEETS) and supported by the Local Council for Security and Crime Prevention (CLSPD), adult relays register in a local approach with young people, their parents and schools. By listening and acting as a mediator, the adult relay helps to strengthen the relationship between the population of the priority neighborhoods of the City Policy (Sandy Ground and Quartier d'Orléans) and the institutions. Funded 80% by the State represented by Fabien Sésé, Secretary General of the Prefecture during this first edition, the system has existed in France since 1999 in order to ease tensions in the public and collective space. The remaining 20% are paid for by the Collectivity. 25 relay adults are active in Saint-Martin. Soon, this figure will be raised to 28 thanks to the labeling of the educational city. Deputy Frantz Gumbs, representing the Collectivity, underlined the importance of adult relays whose "mediation role serves to create social ties and better trust between the world of adults and this part of young people who are failing at school". . Pascale Pêpe, deputy director of the DEETS, describes the adult-relay system, which represents 590.000€/year, as essential in the life of the districts, for the benefit of vulnerable populations. An adult-relay contract generally runs for one or even two years, the employer must ensure the training of an adult-relay, in order to be part of a professionalization plan which was detailed after noon. After a video presentation with strong testimonials from adult relays and association representatives, the 25 people from this system were able to get to know each other and discuss their experience, whose missions are to welcome, inform and support the inhabitants. in their approaches, to help resolve conflicts, to facilitate dialogue between generations but also between public services and users, to strengthen the parental function and associative life without forgetting the mission of developing the capacity for initiative and projects in the neighborhood within schools. The 25 adult relays of Saint-Martin are distributed in associations such as Cobraced, Sandy Ground On The Move, Nature is the Key, Le Manteau, Sèm Ta Route but also in the Mont des Accords and Quartier d'Orléans colleges, the Cité Scolaire Robert Weinum and the Professional High School Daniella Jeffry. _VX
