During his visit to the construction site of Collège 600 in Quartier d'Orléans, Louis Mussington, President of the Collectivity, also attended the presentation of the preliminary project for the redevelopment of the surroundings of social housing in Quartier d'Orléans.

The "Les Promenades de Quartier d'Orléans" project is supported by Semsamar and the Prefecture, including Émilie Nahon, director of the sustainable and resilient development project for Saint Martin, who was in charge of the presentation made to the officials present at the meeting. . The district has three social housing residences: Salines, Palmeraies and Hirondelles. Since the passage of cyclone Irma in 2017, the ancillary equipment set up at the start as well as the plantations hardly exist anymore. The will of the Semsamar, supported by the Prefecture, is to redevelop Quartier d'Orléans in a modified living environment for an improvement of the daily life of the inhabitants. The creation of this new landscaped and unifying living space aims to improve the quality of social life with more accessible and attractive outdoor spaces. A public space will be offered to the population with various walks: artistic, "well-being", discovery, as well as gardens and activity areas such as a children's play area and sports equipment. All generations will be targeted, the installation of ping-pong tables and tables for checkers and chess is also planned, not to mention street furniture. The Promenades de Quartier d'Orléans aim to unite residents while revitalizing the area. The project leaders also invite neighborhood associations to get involved in the process. Presented upstream to the inhabitants by the initiators of the project, the QO promenades will strengthen the adhesion of the tenants who will be able to participate in the various activities and works related to the project such as the creation of pedestrian transition spaces, artistic works along the promenade , maintenance of fruit gardens and aromatic plants. On the environmental side, the vegetation chosen will be essentially endemic, depending on the ease of maintenance. Financed at 65% by European funds, the total budget amounts to 1,5 million euros. The start of the redevelopment work is scheduled for early 2023 for delivery at the end of October of the same year. A great project to participate in restoring Quartier d'Orléans to its former glory. _VX
