Damaged by the passage of hurricane Irma, the Soualiga college in Cul de Sac has never reopened. The Collectivity, owner of the premises, wanted to keep it and transform its use. The site will thus be rehabilitated into offices and equipped with a sports area.

The building along the road will be renovated. It will house offices for administration, leisure, storage spaces, changing rooms and a club house.

As for the building at the back, on the lagoon side, it will be completely demolished. Instead, the “sports area of Cul de Sac” will be developed. It is planned to install tennis lessons, a street workout, volleyball/beach volleyball courts, street basketball, a skate park, carbets. "The creation of this space will make it possible to rebalance geographically in terms of land use planning this part of the island, compared to the other districts, which overall are all provided with facilities and sports leisure equipment", estimates the Collectivity. The total cost of the work is estimated at 4,5 million euros excluding tax. The start date for construction has not yet been determined. To date, the COM has launched the administrative procedure to select a project manager, who will accompany it in this project. (soualigapost.com)
