SOCIETY: Inauguration of the Tourist Office kiosk

0

This Monday, May 23, 2022, the Tourist Office team inaugurated in the presence of Louis Mussington, president of the Collectivity, as well as other officials, its new tourist information kiosk in Marigot.

Located opposite the ferry terminal, the brand new kiosk is now open to the public who would like to find out about the territory of Saint Martin, the activities on offer and the sites to visit. The ceremony began with a word of welcome followed by the speech of the President of the Tourist Office (OT), Valérie Damaseau. Facing the assembly and despite the howling siren as part of a test following the installation of the new warning system, the latter expressed her pride in inaugurating this room which was sorely lacking in the landscape of the capital. The President of the Collectivity, Louis Mussington, then took the floor, first in French then in English. In his words, the tourist information kiosk, which will be manned by two people, is an additional welcoming tool that will help to build the confidence of tourists so that they feel welcome in the territory of Saint Martin. The kiosk, whose geographical location in the very heart of Marigot is strategically perfect, is a landmark for both tourists and citizens.

In terms of services offered, the digital age is no exception. Being a front-line player in the promotion and use of new technologies, the tourist office designed this kiosk along the same lines.

Indeed, around the latter, several billboards are visible to tourists and onlookers in order to scan a QR code to access the digital version of the practical guide, the map of the island of Saint Martin or directly at the tourist office website. Even if the guide and the map remain available in paper version, this initiative is a good point for the environment.

After cutting the inauguration ribbon, Valérie Damaseau invited Louis Mussington and the other officials to follow her for a guided tour of the premises. Once the ceremony was over, the assembly gathered around a cocktail or near the buffet set up for the occasion.

The construction of the Saint Martin Tourist Office kiosk on the Marigot seafront was 100% financed by the European Union within the framework of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The total amount of this transaction is €201. _VX
