SINT MAARTEN: Royal visit to Princess Juliana International Airport

Her Majesty King Willem Alexander, Her Majesty Queen Máxima and Princess Amalia visited Princess Juliana International Airport as part of their official two-day stay in Sint Maarten.

Airport CEO Brian Mingo, Project Director Mirto Breell and Director of Operations Z'haria Richardson gave the Royal Family a tour of the construction area and existing terminal operations.

Currently, Ballast Nedam International Projects is reconstructing the new departures hall, which is expected to open before the end of 2023.

The new terminal is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2024.

  Juliana Airport: "an important role in the island's economy"

During the visit, the Royals were able to witness the impressive progress made since the start of the reconstruction of the airport terminal which began in 2021.

The new terminal is vital to the island's economy, making it a source of pride for the airport and the entire team involved in its reconstruction.

"I am extremely proud to show the project to the royal family and to share the progress made by the whole team", underlines Brian Mingo, CEO of Princess Juliana International Airport, before adding "The reconstruction of an airport live is a complex and demanding task, especially with the need to maintain day-to-day operations.
