SINT MAARTEN: Theo Heyliger trial to start on May 27

1

Last Friday, the Sint Maarten prosecution extended the pre-trial detention of Theo Heyliger by 27 days, prosecuted for passive bribery. With three other defendants, he will appear in justice in Sint Maarten on May XNUMX.

First transferred to prison in Bonnaire, he was, at his request, repatriated to Pointe Blanche. The prosecution said that contrary to what may have been written in some media, it never objected to Theo Heyliger receiving treatment or being transferred to hospital.

Theo Heyliger was arrested by the anti-corruption unit on February 19. He is suspected of having received bribes when he was Minister of Housing, Development and Environment (VROMI), to intervene in the choice of construction companies for certain sites.
