Sint Maarten: The Dutch government is committed to ensuring the continuity of the Juliana airport reconstruction project

0

In a statement addressed to the media on the island, the government of Sint Maarten specifies that it “remains attached to the continuity of the reconstruction project of the airport terminal. Internal changes in the management staff of the Juliana Airport operating company (PJIAE NV) will not affect this commitment ”.

Clearly, this means that the project will continue in accordance with the financing agreement in force. Compliance with corporate governance guidelines at Juliana airport is indeed one of the government's main concerns.

The terminal reconstruction project will continue in accordance with all signed agreements. The restoration of the airport remains a priority for the government and the people of Sint Maarten. Completing the work on time is essential to fully restore the country's damaged economy following the passage of Cyclone Irma in 2017 and the unexpected Covid-19 pandemic.

The government will ensure that the agreements with the World Bank and the European Investment Bank are respected._AF
