Passers-by and travelers can currently witness the renewal of the exterior signs on the facade of the terminal at Princess Juliana International Airport.

The complex process includes replacing damaged metal panels, as well as glass panels that were shattered during Hurricane Irma in 2017.

According to the latest notice provided by the Project Management Unit, the facade works have started since the 4th quarter of 2022 and should be completed during the 1st quarter of 2023.

The works also include the treatment of the corrosion of the metal wall of the facade. A local contractor performed the rust removal, primer application and paint finish.

"So far, the work on the facade facing the planes has been completed and 50% of the road works have been carried out", underlines  Mirto Breell, Project Management Unit Manager at Juliana Airport, before adding "It is important to note that not all the panels had to be replaced, which allows us to achieve significant savings in our budget. There is a lot of coordination needed to reduce the impact on the ongoing operation of the live terminal building, but we are determined to complete the job on time.” _AF
