Sint Maarten / EHAS: towards a simplification of the procedure

Passengers, including residents of the French part of the island, arriving at Juliana Airport, still need to complete the EHAS online form. The government of Sint Maarten has announced that from August 1st, the procedure will be simplified.

As soon as a passenger presenting proof of a complete vaccination schedule has completed his form, he will automatically and immediately receive the pre-approval document upon entering the territory; what will change is the timeframe for receiving this document. Today it can be sent several hours after completing the form.

The authorities of Sint Maarten specify that the pre-authorization will always be requested at the time of boarding and checked on arrival in Juliana with proof of the vaccination schedule.

In addition, the government is working to further improve the system for commissioning by October 15 at the latest. He also defends the usefulness of this visitor control tool and denies that the number of tourists has dropped since its implementation. “During the 2021-2022 season, Sint Maarten was at around 120% of its pre-Covid arrivals and to date we are at 90% of 2019 arrivals,” he says. And to clarify that other countries, such as Aruba, also require visitors to fill out forms before their arrival. “Even though America has finally relaxed its entry requirements, non-citizens must be vaccinated to enter their country. This shows that everyone is trying to find a balance that protects their population while attracting visitors,” adds the government of Sint Maarten.
