At the end of last week, the merchants of the Philipsburg market had the unpleasant surprise to see arriving a bailiff accompanied by a team of police officers. This intervention concerned counterfeit articles from internationally known brands.
The counterfeit items mainly concerned bags, belts and wallets from the Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Gucci brands. Last June, a similar operation took place and all the items were seized. In the meantime, all the stands were again supplied with these illegal goods. Front Street and Back Street stores have also been selling counterfeit items for many years with impunity to insure owners of different brands.
