Road safety: Joint operation between the Sint-Maarten police and the gendarmerie

0

The Sint-Maarten police and the French gendarmes carried out a joint preventive check on March 4 at various places on the island.

The KPSM and the gendarmerie carried out inspections in the Dutch districts of Sucker Garden, Middle Region and in Quartier d'Orléans. The preventive checks that took place from 10 a.m. to 16 p.m. were intended to ensure that all of the controlled motorists, cars and motorcycles, complied with traffic laws on both sides of the island.

Several cars were stopped for tinted windows, which exceeds the visibility law by 70%; the owners were asked to remove the shade on site. A vehicle was also arrested; the driver who attempted to escape control was in possession of 27 grams of marijuana.

In addition, 10 motorcycles were seized for non-presentation of official documents.

These checks were carried out on the basis of the French and Dutch treaties on police cooperation. They also contribute to the development of working relations and cooperation between the French and Dutch law enforcement agencies.
