Road Safety / Quad excursions: the gendarmerie emphasizes safety

0

On August 22, 2021, the client of a quad excursion loses control of her vehicle and hits a post on the RN7. The findings of the gendarmes highlight unsuitable equipment to ensure the safety of customers.

The accident on the Orleans neighborhood road reveals major safety deficiencies that put customers at risk. Last week the gendarmes carried out several checks which each time confirmed serious infringements: the absence of helmets, non-compliant helmets, smooth tires or the absence of mirrors. "Depending on the violations noted, the machines can be immobilized and the fines can concern the customers and the organizing companies" warns Lieutenant-Colonel WINTZER commanding the gendarmerie company. The objective is to encourage companies to bring vehicles and individual equipment which circulate on the roads of Saint-Martin into compliance. "If minor infractions can be the subject of a simple warning, those which can aggravate the injuries will be systematically punished" recalls the chief of the gendarmes. To achieve the objective they have set for themselves, the gendarmes will continue this type of random checks over the coming months.

At the request of the Prefect Serge GOUTEYRON, the National Gendarmerie is strengthening its daily mobilization on the public highway in order to ensure road safety in the territories of Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin.
