A new action to raise awareness of road safety took place last Monday at the Aline Hanson primary school in Sandy-Ground provided by the association “Sécurité Routière SXM”.

This association, supported by the Collectivity of Saint-Martin and the State within the framework of city policy, works in schools.

Since last year, 1121 schoolchildren from 8 public primary schools in Saint-Martin have been able to follow a 10-hour training course on the gestures to respect on the road: 8 hours of theory and 2 hours of practice on road track .

422 first road safety education certificates were given to CM2 classes, like here at the Aline Hanson school, the  Monday 20 June.

As a reminder, the objectives of road safety education at school are to teach the behaviors that enable safe travel and coping with dangerous situations.

The APER progressively validates the acquisition of rules and behaviors related to the use of the street and the road and the knowledge of their justification. It is issued, at the latest, to students in cycle 3, preferably in CM2 class.
