Safety / Repeated brush fires: call for vigilance to limit the risk of fire!

0

For several weeks, the firefighters of Saint-Martin have been called upon to intervene in brush fires. The dryness of the plants combined with episodes of strong wind represents a real danger for the risks of fire.

Saint-Martin is currently subject to an absence of precipitation and an increasingly severe drought. The high temperatures, the dryness of the soils and the vegetation, form elements favorable to the starts of fire.

The population is invited to observe simple precautions. Cigarettes are to be avoided in dry areas. Cigarette butts must not be disposed of along roadsides and hedges or brush. Precautions for use are necessary for barbecues. In particular, they must be carried out in a protected area, away from the vegetation and with a means of extinction nearby. Burns are prohibited in gardens and fields during periods of drought.

The community of Saint-Martin therefore invites the population to be as vigilant as possible.
