DROUGHT: The Collectivity releases aid for cattle breeders

0

The Executive Council of the Collectivity of Saint-Martin has voted exceptional aid aimed at enabling breeders in the territory to buy fodder, feed and water for their livestock.

The high temperatures and the drought currently affecting the territory have caused a shortage of water and food for livestock since last May. As a result, breeders are forced to incur exceptional expenses for the purchase of fodder and concentrated feed for their animals.

The Collectivity of Saint-Martin and its elected officials have taken the measure of these difficulties and wish to implement a specific system to help local breeders to overcome these additional expenses, in accordance with the decree of the Minister of Agriculture.

This aid amounts to 70% of the eligible expenses submitted by the beneficiary and is capped for each breeder.

Cattle, sheep and horse breeders duly registered (with a valid herd number), working on the territory of the Collectivity, are eligible for this exceptional aid. The aid will be paid on presentation of invoices paid between May 1 and September 1, 2022.

Through this measure, the Collectivity of Saint-Martin wishes to support the breeders of the territory and prevent the livestock from suffering from the consequences of the drought.
