RESCUE Monthly exercise: SNSM lifeguards on deck!

0

Under the supervision of their bosses Gilles and Anke, 20 volunteers from the Saint-Martin SNSM took part in a major monthly training session.

The afternoon logically begins with the preparation of the equipment, the distribution of the teams and a briefing.

Once at sea, the two craft performed several solo maneuvers and various seamanship exercises before joining for a simulated scuba diving accident. This exercise mobilized two pairs of on-board swimmers to evacuate one of the divers on launch 129 so that he could be taken care of by the rescuers on board.

Following this first exercise, the two boats set up a towing exercise following the simulation of an engine failure.

Once the engines had started up again and the towing exercise was over, the "Rescue star" was given the task of recovering a man overboard, a rescue carried out by two pairs of swimmers in training.

To finish this training, the whole team met off Marigot Bay for collective swimming exercises in the open sea.

The return to the marina was followed by a reconditioning of the equipment, the boats and then a debriefing.

A beautiful friendly and serious afternoon, a fine example of efficiency and cohesion.

Every year, sea rescuers from the Saint-Martin resort ensure the safety of boaters, helping them 24 hours a day, all on a voluntary basis. Congratulations to them for their dedication! _AF
