Sargassum: the means deployed locally

0

The long-awaited massive groundings took place last week, and in particular on July 14, on all the beaches in the east of Saint-Martin. The COM is in charge of collecting the sargassum when it runs aground on public beaches (Cul de Sac, Le Galion, part of the BO in front of the Mont Vernon hotel, Coralita). The pickup on the beaches of the BO and Anse Marcel, under AOT, is the responsibility of the operators, even if the COM accompanies them by recovering the heaps. Saint-Martin therefore has no other solution than to wait for the sargasses to run aground in order to pick them up directly on the beaches. The brigadiers resumed their activity at Cul de Sac this Monday, July 17 in the morning. From Tuesday July 18, the COM will come to lend them a hand with backhoe loaders.
