The Hungarian production company Greenyard has issued a recall of various frozen vegetables with the names of various retailers. The reason for the recall is that these products were contaminated with the bacteria, Listeria monocytogenes, causing listeriosis.

The products concerned are:

1. Leader Price brand 1 kg frozen Mexican vegetables;

2. D'Aucy brand frozen mixed vegetables from the Caribbean and Mexico;

3. “Chili con carne” meatballs with fried rice with chicken and frozen mushrooms of 900 grams from the Carrefour brand;

4. 'Pinguin brand frozen sweet corn of 1 kg or 10 kg

“Listeriosis is an infection caused by the bacteria Listeria monocytogenes. People usually get sick after eating contaminated food. Most people will not have any symptoms of the infection or will only experience mild symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea, which usually go a few days without needing treatment. A more serious infection can develop in people with weakened immune systems or in vulnerable groups, including babies, the elderly or pregnant women, ”the government of Sint Maarten recalls in a statement released on July 18.

The health authorities in the Dutch side are carrying out the necessary checks and have not received any complaints relating to the recall. However, they advise against consuming any of the products listed.
