Health: World Diabetes Day in Saint Martin

"In Saint-Martin, diabetes affects at least one in two families," says Chantale Thibaut, president of Saint-Martin Santé. On the occasion of World Diabetes Day, the association organized a morning devoted to this disease at the Louis Constant Fleming hospital on Wednesday November 14, around the slogan "Diabetes concerns every family".

"Saint-Martin Santé consists of a territorial professional health community, where several intra and extra-hospital players work together throughout the year around screening and therapeutic education", explains its president, also a nurse at the hospital. For this forum dedicated to diabetes, the association therefore invited its partners and set up several workshops bringing together the different actors to not only prevent and diagnose, but above all live better with the disease: screening, diet, specialized medical equipment, relaxation therapy, Ayurvedic massages, physical activity adapted to health. Saint Martin Santé is extending its awareness, prevention, information and screening action for diabetes throughout the month of November. She will be with her partners on November 17 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., in front of the Grand Case pharmacy, on November 21 in a private establishment, on 24 at Square Les Palmeraies, Résidences de la SEMSAMAR in Quartier d'Orléans, and on 28 on the car park for the family solidarity center. In addition, she is organizing a competition in which families have to be photographed in the blue circle symbolizing diabetes. “The photos will be posted on our Facebook page“ Saint Martin Santé ”and the three people who get the most“ Like ”will be rewarded,” she says.
