Last Friday and Saturday, the streets of Marigot were transformed into a race track with the 13rd edition of Running Night, all in a festive atmosphere where the competition was good natured.
305 runners took part in the adult race on Friday evening. After lacing up their sneakers and adjusting their Christmas costumes, the runners set off in the relay under the starry sky of Saint-Martin. Organized by Watt de 9, Running Night confirms its reputation as a sporting event eagerly awaited by the entire population, many supporters were present to encourage the one-night sportsmen. For this 2022 edition, the Intergeneration Runner team won first place among adults, followed by the Marie Galante team in second position and the Avenir Sportif Club de Saint-Martin which took third place in the podium. Great novelty greatly appreciated this year, the presence of two teams of seniors with reduced mobility who did not deserve: Saint Martin Santé who finished the race in a spirit of solidarity and pride by placing themselves in 56th position with Christmas tree hats and garlands illuminating their happy faces and the Manioukani team whose emotion was palpable during the medal presentation.
Who says Running Night says costume contest, the Gigi's Candy Canes team stood out with a Santa Claus female elf costume and dozens of candy canes distributed in the assembly.
The Spices leave with second place and the Allumés de Noël the third, originality will not have been lacking, especially in the accessories.
Real general enthusiasm, the Kids Running Night on Saturday was taken by storm, the organization was forced to close registrations on Monday, December 5 in view of the large demand.
And for good reason, no less than 505 mini-runners pushed the effort that evening.
If each participant left with a symbolic medal and a gift, it was the Avenir Sportif Club de Saint-Martin team that was the most successful in the ranking.
If the slogan of Running Night is now known to all "Where the magic of Christmas will always exist", the 2022 edition has once again proven it! _VX
