6 kilometers: this is the distance that students from the Northern Islands must travel to reach the city of Paris, candidate for the Olympic Games in 726.

This challenge is to be realized within the framework of the RUN TO PARIS 2024 project.

On Thursday December 15, 420 students from Clair St Maximin, Omer Arrondel, Elie Gibs and Emile Larmonie schools contributed to the advancement of the race by achieving 417 km.

"All the students joined together with a lot of determination in the race to garner the maximum number of kilometers to reach Paris", underlines Jean-Luc Elice, EPS pedagogical advisor, before adding

“One of the objectives of this project is to allow students to achieve a common goal, together. To advance to Paris, they need each other. It is together that they will make efforts to succeed ”!

In class, teachers will work in mathematics, calculating and converting distances traveled. In geography, students will identify the position of Saint-Martin and Paris on a map.

Finally, in French, the students will make postcards for their Parisian comrades.

RUN TO PARIS is a project that promotes the crossing of disciplines, one of the prerogatives of the school's new programs.

“After this race, we still have 5 km before arriving in Paris. So still courage students. We would like to thank the Tigres d'Orléans (USEP) and the Collectivity for their collaboration in this action, ”concludes Jean-Luc Elice. _AF
