1. Visit of President François Hollande

In May, the President of the Republic François Hollande was in Saint-Martin. A crowd was welcomed by the Head of State, accompanied in particular by the Minister of Ecology Ségolène Royal and the Minister of Overseas George Pau-Langevin. On this occasion, the president made a series of announcements for the territory, including updating the cadastre and adapting the rules of the RSA in Saint-Martin in order to control the expenses of the Community.

2. Tribute to the victims of the Paris attacks

In November, a crowd - estimated at nearly 200 people - gathered on the Marigot pier to pay tribute to the victims of the Paris attacks. On the 16th, it was time for meditation in front of the war memorial. 3. PLU: Marigot blocking

In October, at the call of the "Saint-Martin wake up" collective, the population mobilized in Marigot to protest against the local urban planning plan (PLU). The roadblocks erected around the city quickly paralyzed the capital. At the end of a meeting between the members of the collective and the elected officials, an agreement was finally reached in the evening. One month later, the deliberations relating to the halting of the procedure for drawing up the PLU and to the modification of the attributions of the ad hoc commission for the regulation of the occupants of the area of ​​the 50 geometric steps were adopted by the elected members in Council territorial.

4. An exceptional drought

Between November 1, 2014 and June 30, 2015, the rainfall data from Météo France revealed a historic drought in the territory. Farm animals suffered a lot and many animals died. During this difficult period, the Collectivity and the State financially supported the breeders and the farmers.

5. President Aline Hanson assaulted

In April, an individual assaulted President Aline Hanson with a stove in the community parking lot. The president was injured in the hand. The individual considered to be “unbalanced” and known to the police was quickly apprehended.
