Back in pictures on the feast of Saint Martin

Yesterday, it was under a cloudy sky that the Saint-Martinois commemorated the discovery of the island by Christopher Columbus in 1493. The first ceremony took place on the border of Bellevue and Cole Bay where the elected officials on both sides of the island laid wreaths of flowers, then went to the Methodist church in Philipsburg for a religious ceremony. At around 10 a.m., several troupes and orchestras marched on Frontstreet, in the presence of the island's elected officials. The president of the Community Aline Hanson and the prefect Anne Laubies took part in the official speeches. On this occasion, the prefect insisted on the fight of the two governments to maintain a climate of peace on the island. KL
