New on the village square in Orient Bay, the Maison Mère restaurant opened to the public on Monday evening. What a pleasure to spend an evening in this magnificent place which already has everything to become a place of reference on our island.
The desire of the two partners and owners of Maison Mère, Antoine and Vincent, was to make you feel “at home” in their establishment. It is indeed the case and the sweet impression does not end there. Passed the few steps of the entrance, the soul of the place amazes while offering a feeling of intimacy and serenity, as if it were a place already known. The decoration calls for time travel and travel itself. We think of Lyon corks or even the Parisian brasserie, with just the right amount of Caribbean touch. The Mother House experience takes you elsewhere while giving you the impression that you are exactly in the right place.
Antoine and Vincent had already brilliantly won the bet with the acquisition of Coco Beach, recently elected favorite at the Gastronomy Festival. Maison Mère seems to be on the same line, with an atmosphere of its own.
In the kitchen, the two friends have decided to put the table back together with Hubert Tarbouriech, executive chef of Coco Beach and now of Maison Mère. Never change a winning team. It is with four hands that Hubert and Sylvain, the chef of Maison Mère with their own identity, have developed a menu offering gourmet cuisine with the gift of sublimating local products. The cuisine of Maison Mère is friendly and generous, the French culinary tradition invites itself on your plate, with this Caribbean revisit which makes all its uniqueness, as with this sauerkraut recipe served in a banana leaf and accompanied by black pudding. A cuisine highly appreciated during this first opening night.
The smiling and welcoming team of Maison Mère takes great care, which completes the experience as a whole. Welcome home.
