Tourism professionals have had the obligation since the beginning of the year to display the real price of hotel rooms from the start of an online reservation, according to a decree published last December in the Official Journal.
The government wanted to put an end to unpleasant surprises when it comes to online overnight reservations. Tourism professionals - who have until June 1 to update their site - will have to inform their customers of the final price for overnight stays, from the start of the online transaction, including taxes and services. The audiences affected by this decree are “professionals operating certain commercial tourist accommodation and other professionals offering overnight reservations in such accommodation, excluding professionals covered by specific regulations (open-air accommodation, furnished tourist accommodation)”.
