Friday 11 January, Mostafa Fourar, rector of the Academy of Guadeloupe, presented his wishes for the first time to the educational community of Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy, since taking office last February.

He gave a lively speech during which he looked at the thorny subjects subject to mobilizations of high school and college students in France but also in the academy: the reform of the high school and the baccalaureate, the Parcoursup platform and high school life. "What I was able to note through these complaints is that we must be more attentive to them and explain the new devices even more thoroughly" he considers. “I know that everyone has initiated actions to convey information. Obviously we must collectively go even further in the explanations ”he insists.

As announced by the Minister of National Education on February 14, the future baccalaureate will come into force during the 2021 session. The new exam will have only four final exams against about ten today. These four tests, as well as the anticipated French one, will account for 60% of the bac mark. The remaining 40% will be assessed by continuous monitoring. This reform also marks the end of the L, ES and S series. Students now have to opt for specialties. “At this stage, I can share with you the work that we are doing in the Academy concerning the academic map of special education. It is carried out with all the players in the system, based on reliable criteria: characteristics of the establishment, number of pupils, etc. "He continues. And to announce that nine training courses out of the twelve requested by the management of the school district of Saint-Martin have been accepted, without specifying which ones for the moment.
