Reconstruction: The "Patriac'h" on a mission to the Antilles and Saint-Martin!

0

The “Patriac'h” sailboat arrived in the West Indies with young family members on board who will participate in the reconstruction work. Did you say a great surge of solidarity?

A 24-meter schooner leaves the harbor, heading for the West Indies. Except that the trip is not a cruise. The sailboat leaves for a somewhat special humanitarian mission, sailing to help the West Indian victims who lost everything after the passage of Hurricane Irma. Aboard the Patriac'h, in addition to the crew members, six young people who are taking part in a social, school, professional and family reintegration course. Supported by the association Zone Bleue, these adolescents will take advantage of this extraordinary humanitarian adventure to rebuild themselves personally in the discomfort of a transatlantic crossing, while doing useful work on the islands hit hard by Irma.

The environment too

The crossing to the Antilles lasted about 5 weeks, with a technical stopover in the Canaries at El Hierro, an island very committed to the environmental aspect, autonomous in energy production and recycling of its waste. In addition to the humanitarian mission, the Patriac'h is in fact engaged in the “Zero Waste” action, the purpose of which is to raise awareness of eco-responsible behavior in sensitive areas - and in particular the sea.

The young members of the Patriac'h crew will work hand in hand with the Belle Espérance association and will carry out numerous rotations on the islands ravaged by the hurricane: Guadeloupe, Saint-Martin and Dominica.

The mission is expected to last approximately three months and the return to Toulon should take place in early spring 2018. _AF
