After Guadeloupe, heading for Saint-Martin for the explorer Patrick Deixonne and his crew who will be present, on May 6 and 7, 2023 at the Marina Fort-Louis, to welcome the public as part of the educational tour "Protecting You can learn about the ocean” organized by the Expedition 7 associationrd Continent and CITEO.
The Collectivity of Saint-Martin participates in this event and invites you to come and discover the educational workshops and visit the schooner.
This is the 6th educational tour and the very first edition in the Antilles-Guyana.
Launched on March 1, the crew made a stopover in Guyana, Martinique, and Guadeloupe and will be in Saint-Martin on May 6 and 7, 2023.
The organizers wanted to include Saint-Martin in this traveling exhibition project aboard a 26-meter oceanographic schooner, which will be calling at the marina for 3 nights.
The objectives are to make the youngest and the general public aware of the scourge of abandoned plastic waste and to train in the sorting gesture which constitutes a first barrier against marine pollution.
The 7th Continent Expedition association will offer information stands allowing visitors to observe plastic microparticles recovered during expeditions under a microscope, in order to understand the problem of ocean plasticization.
Participatory educational workshops will be organized around the gesture of sorting using the tools and programs developed by the eco-organization CITEO.
The Collectivity and its Environment Pole will also be present on Saturday May 06 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 15:00 p.m. to 18:00 p.m. .
Educational activities will be offered to visitors: quizzes, introduction to sorting and distribution of memo-sorting.
The public is thus invited on May 6 and 7, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 15:00 p.m. to 18:00 p.m., at the Marina Fort-Louis in Marigot, to enjoy this (free) activity. He will also be able to discover the sailboat “L'Expédition 7e Continent”.
Improving waste management is an important issue for the territory and its maritime domain.
