Electrical problem / General water cut on the island: La Saur and EDF draw lessons and strengthen their collaboration in the service of the population

Driven by the same sense of the general interest and the quality of services to Saint-Martin residents, EDF and SAUR are fully aware that water and electricity are interdependent and represent two nerve centers and strategic points, particularly in Saint Martin.

Their collaboration is in fact permanent, especially when problems arise. The EDF and SAUR Saint-Martin teams therefore met this Tuesday, May 24 for a feedback on the events of May 18 and 19 which impacted the distribution of electricity and drinking water throughout the territory. . As a reminder, a fault present on an electrical cable buried inside the SAUR factory premises paralyzed the production and distribution of drinking water from 9:30 a.m. on Thursday May 19 to 04:00 a.m. on Friday May 20, the time for teams to locate the fault, repair it and put the installations back into operation as quickly as possible. The combination of human resources from EDF and SAUR and the provision of specific EDF fault finding resources saved valuable hours. The two natural partners therefore worked together on Tuesday 24 May to analyze their joint management of this major damage in order to identify areas for improvement in their usual collaboration. This feedback will make it possible to bring the structures even closer, to improve cooperation in order to allow diagnostics and even faster decision-making and interventions. This “win/win” collaboration, driven by the general interest of Saint-Martinois but also by the need for performance of the two companies, is based on a permanent work of sharing, communication and mutual aid. Not only essential, it also constitutes an additional force in the continuous management of the production and distribution of water and electricity.
