Benoît Hamon won yesterday the second round of the primary on the left with 58,65% of the vote, against 41,35% for Manuel Valls, according to the first results (4322 offices were counted). The member for Yvelines, who came first in the first round with more than 36% of the vote, far outstripped his rival who admitted defeat. Benoît Hamon was delighted with his victory in front of his supporters gathered at the Mutualité in Paris. The former Minister of Education thanked “left” voters “warmly” on Twitter. “Let us continue to make the valiant heart of France beat, and together we will build a desirable future.” The participation at 20:30 p.m. was 1,1 million voters, according to the High Authority.
