Sint Maarten could host an international film festival, such is the wish of the Minister of Tourism and Economic Affairs, Melissa Arrindell-Doncher, who should soon initiate exploratory discussions in this direction. During her recent trip to New York, the minister and her team had the opportunity to meet beautiful people, notably with Lina Plath of the Frank PR agency specializing in film, television and advertising, and with Patrick Harrison, New York program director for the Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences. This project is a good way to diversify the Sint Maarten tourism product and attract more affluent visitors, as well as media and film professionals, according to the minister. _EH
